While Music Prime subscribers in the US aren't getting ads today, changes in India might hint at what's to come.

Spotify in November launched its “Premium Platinum” tier in India and four other markets, carrying lossless audio and AI-powered features, at ₹299 per month. Spotify’s “Premium Standard” tier in India costs ₹199 per month, with a “Premium Lite” option at ₹139.

Starting today, Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers in the U.S., UK, and Canada can access Audible‘s entire catalog of audiobooks from within the Amazon Music app. They can also listen to one audiobook a month as part of their existing subscription.

Amazon Music India is implementing a three-tier subscription model to attract more users, including a free service with ads, an upgraded Prime experience, and a premium unlimited plan. This change reflects the growing demand for diverse music services amid increasing smartphone penetration.

Amazon will also launch Amazon Music Free tier in India soon to give users access to ad-supported music.
